Why the first day/weeks are the most important of the semester?
Many students think that they can skip the first couple of days at school since nothing is happening. WRONG!! Very wrong, from my own experience at HES I can tell that the first 2 or 3 weeks are the most important of the semester due to 3 reasons
1) Subjects are explained. Teachers explain what it’s gonna happen, which books you need and the assignments you need to do.
2) Most important: groups are made so you better be there to choose with who you are gonna be with and not end up in a shitty group.
3) Some syllabus, slides, info stuff are given for free. You miss the day and you gotta make copies by yourself and pay for them!
If you miss these days when these stuff is decided, you’ll probably end up alone or just asking everybody about what happened and will spend some money in photocopies.
Also, it helps you decide which subjects are more important than others and to which ones it is actually worth to show up to the classes or just to the exam. Seriously sometimes I meet some ppl the first week and then I don’t see them again until the exam day.
So, don’t miss out the first weeks!
